Gas Separator / Desander

B83

A patent-pending through-bore hydrocyclonic degasser desander with an integrated TAC bypass — a weld-free, dual-path design built around a systems approach to the bottomhole assembly. Can be run with or without the integrated TAC bypass engaged.

Overview

The B83 integrates the latest advancements in anchoring, gas, and solids separation into a single systems-approach bottomhole assembly, built around its proven TAC bypass for unrestricted flow both through and around the TAC — and it can be run with or without the integrated TAC bypass engaged, depending on the well. Large windows at the upper end of the separator housing offer easy fluid entry and fallback — similar to an open-top bucket-style separator — while a robust, weld-free design improves safety. A through-bore degasser spiral removes gas from the fluid stream, and erosion- and corrosion-resistant hydrocyclonic desander spirals below handle sand separation. The TAC is built directly into the B83's body, compatible with any TAC on the market.

How it works

Gas breaks out through the bore while a dual-path TAC bypass keeps flow unrestricted.

  • Centrifugal + gravitational gas separation

In the upper chamber, spiral-induced rotation separates gas through combined centrifugal and gravitational force, pushing fluid outward while gas breaks free.

  • Through-bore degasser spiral

A through-bore spiral creates material separation, letting separated gas exit upward through the bore while fluid is pulled downward — a design that maximizes gas separation versus a conventional annular path.

  • Hydrocyclonic desanding

The lower section's desander spirals generate intense rotational forces that eject solids into the mud joints, sending clean fluid on to surface.

  • Large housing windows

Large windows at the top of the housing enable controlled fluid stall and re-entry into the separator body, optimizing separation efficiency without a welded connection.

  • Integrated TAC bypass

The patent-pending bypass lets fluid and gas move freely through and around the TAC. Slotted bypass windows use heavy-walled, nickel-coated P-110 material made up to any TAC, with an inner tube run through it so gas reaches surface while cleaner fluid is pumped separately.
