A hydrocyclonic degasser desander that combines two separation methods in one housing — centrifugal and gravitational gas break away up top, a hydrocyclone desander below.
The Fat Man combines two types of separation for maximum fluid, gas, and solids separation. The upper chamber allows gas to break away from the fluid through centrifugal and gravity separation, while the hydrocyclone at the bottom removes suspended solids — one housing, two mechanisms, working on the stream in sequence.
Two separation stages in a single run — gas breaks out above, solids spin out below.
The upper spiral creates a centrifugal motion that pushes heavier, denser fluid to the outer housing while gas breaks toward the middle. Conventional gravity separation works alongside it — gas rises, fluid falls.
On the downstroke, the separated gas is drawn back upward and out of the gas separator, routed clear of the pump intake.
The lower portion houses the desander, where centripetal motion forces solids out of solution — the same principle as a cyclonic vacuum — and ejects them into the lower mud anchor.
The tool can be run with or without the upper spiral in a Lite version, when gas handling needs are lighter than solids handling needs.
All five bore sizes share the same two-stage separation design.

The FatMan desander works inside a flow window. Enter the pump or the daily fluid rate to see which spiral fits your well.
Same core platform, adapted for specific well conditions.
Adds an integrated TAC bypass for unrestricted gas flow above the tool.
Wire-wrapped screen adds 58% more screen area for continually sandy wellbores.
The desander stage adapted to sit below an ESP for higher flow rates.
